Privacy Policy
Effective: October 16, 2026 · Last updated: October 17, 2026
Chiranjeevi Pandey ("we," "our," or "us") built GPS Simulator for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information GPS Simulator handles and why.
The short version: your routes, favourites and locations stay on your device. GPS Simulator has no account and no ads, and we don't add analytics or crash reporting of our own. It talks to three services only: Google Maps (to draw the map), your device's place search (when you search for a place), and RevenueCat with Google Play (to handle the one-time purchase). We never sell your data or use it to track you.
By using GPS Simulator, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Information the App Handles
GPS Simulator does not require an account or sign-in, and does not ask for your name, email or phone number.
Your Device Location
- GPS Simulator asks for precise location permission. It reads your real location only when you ask it to show where you are on the map, and the Android system also requires the permission to run a location simulation.
- Your real location is shown on the map on your device. GPS Simulator does not store it, send it to us, or share it with anyone.
Simulated Locations
- When you start a simulation, GPS Simulator uses Android's mock location feature (which you enable in Developer Options) to give the points or route you chose to the device's location system.
- While a simulation runs, other apps on your device receive the simulated location instead of your real one. Those apps handle it under their own privacy policies. Android marks these locations as mock locations, and GPS Simulator does not hide that.
Routes, Favourites and Settings
- Routes you draw, GPX and KML files you import, saved favourites, and your settings are stored only on your device.
- Files you import are read through Android's file picker. GPS Simulator reads only the files you choose and never uploads them.
- The app also stores, on your device, when your free trial started and whether you own the lifetime unlock.
Device Backup
If Android backup is turned on for your device, Android may include GPS Simulator's on-device data (routes, favourites, settings, and the trial start time) in your Google account backup, so it can be restored on a new device. This backup is run by Google under your Google account settings, not by us, and we cannot access it. You can turn it off in your device's backup settings.
Notifications
While a simulation runs, GPS Simulator shows an ongoing notification with pause and stop controls, as Android requires. GPS Simulator does not send push notifications or marketing messages.
Support Requests
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to you.
2. How We Use Information
The information above is used only to:
- Show the map, search for places, and run the simulations you start;
- Save your routes, favourites and settings on your device;
- Run the free trial, validate and restore your purchase;
- Answer your support emails.
We do not sell your data, share it with data brokers, show ads, or use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
3. Third-Party Services
GPS Simulator uses the following services. Each receives only what it needs to provide its feature.
- Google Maps SDK for Android (Google) — draws the map. Google receives map requests for the areas you view, along with standard technical data such as your IP address and device information. The Maps SDK also sends Google its own crash reports, diagnostics, a pseudonymous SDK identifier and map interaction events (such as panning and zooming), which Google uses to run and improve the map. We don't receive this data. Use of the map is subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Android place search (Geocoder) — when you search for a place by name, the text you type is sent to your device's location search provider (usually Google) to find coordinates. Searches by typed coordinates stay on the device. Google Privacy
- Google Play — app download and payment processing for the lifetime unlock. We never see your payment details. Google Privacy
- RevenueCat — validates and restores your purchase. It receives an anonymous app-generated identifier, purchase tokens and basic device information (such as app version and country of your Play account). It does not receive your name, email, location or routes. RevenueCat Privacy
4. Data Retention
We do not hold any data that identifies you. Your routes, favourites and settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. RevenueCat and Google keep purchase records under their own retention policies (linked above). Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.
5. Data Security
Network requests to Google and RevenueCat use encrypted connections (HTTPS). On-device data is protected by Android's app sandbox, so other apps cannot read it.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- Location: revoke location permission at any time in Android Settings. Stop a simulation from the app or its notification; you can also remove GPS Simulator as the mock location app in Developer Options.
- Your routes and favourites: delete them in the app's Library, or clear all app data in Android Settings.
- Purchases: restore your purchase from the app's Settings. Purchase history is managed in your Google Play account.
- Requests: contact us at sublimecoder247@gmail.com or nepali.indie.dev@gmail.com with any privacy question or request. We will respond within 30 days.
